Haul: New York City and Dublin

IMG_7725

So I have a couple of hauls to catch up on, one from America and one from when I got back home to Ireland. I’ve tried to list the prices as honestly as my memory will allow.

New York Haul

Over the last couple of days I had in America I treated myself to one last little haul.

Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft and Gentle – $34

In MAC I finally laid my hands on the cult favourite Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft and Gentle. I tried it out in store first and loved the results. It’s beautifully illuminating without being too glittery. The one downfall is the price, while I do love the results I get I don’t think I could justify repurchasing this product. Don’t let this put you off if you have a more forgiving budget. I will be using this product, but it was definitely a splurge for me.

Duane-Reade

Milani Baked Blush in Bella Rosa – approx $8

The colour of this is gorgeously vibrant and a little intimidating but a little goes a long way. It suits the tiny bit of tan I have perfectly and is now definitely a favourite of the month.

Jordana Lip Pencil in Tawny – $2.99

This is the perfect shade for me. It’s definitely a ‘my lips but better’ colour. It’s a retractable pencil, very smooth application and wonderfully opaque consistency. I haven’t found it drying and it matches my Revlon Mauve it Over for a perfect nude lip.

Wet n’ Wild Lipstick in Cherry Picking – $2.69

Panatone named radiant Orchid the colour of the year, so if there’s one lipstick you invest in for this trend make it this one. I was so pleased with the colour and texture of this lipstick. It’s a beautiful vibrant shade of orchid and is perfect for a night out or a BBQ party. The lasting effect isn’t outstanding but for the price, I won’t hold that against it.

OPI Nail Varnish in Push and Pur-pull – $9 (not pictured)

While I love the colour of this polish I was ultimately disappointed. It needed approximately 3 layers and the finish is semi-matte, which I’m not a fan of. I didn’t put on a top coat because it took so long to dry and it has already started chipping after one day’s wear. Overall, while I love the colour, I wasn’t impressed with this product.

NYX Roll-on Eyeshadow in Onyx – $4.50

Another favourite this month. If you want to see it in action check out my Look of the Day: Blue Smoke. It’s a stunning dark shimmer with a subtle hint of blue. This is perfect to highlight blue eyes. It’s also easy to apply and build up, you just need to blend out the edges and it’s lasting power is fab.

e.l.f. Cream Eyeliner in Black – $3

I had already purchased and loved the eyeliner in Coffee so I thought I would get it in black too. It has a lovely smooth consistency which makes it so easy to apply.

e.l.f. Small Stippling Brush – $3

It’s a handy little brush for I use for blending and highlighting. It works well with liquid and powder products.

Dublin Haul

I arrived back in Dublin last week and my first move (after a long sleep) was to head out to the local shops and see what was new.

penneys

Essence Powder Blush in Heat Wave – approx €3.50

I haven’t bought from Essence in years but this ombre blush caught my eye. It’s a stunning combination of hot pink and orange, perfect for the summer. It’s not very pigmented so you do have to layer it and but does leave you with a subtle colour. It complements my fair skin and hopefully it will look nice with a bit of a tan.

Essence Long Lasting Eye Pencil in Berry Merry – approx €1.50

This is a pretty pink-purple eyeliner which matches the colours in Naked 3. It looks really well on the top lid but sadly is not very pigmented or long lasting as it suggests when applied along the waterline. The formula could be creamier but it does look nice with bronze, pink and purple shades.

Essence I ❤ Stage Eye Primer – approx €4

It’s a reasonable primer but the pigment is so orangey you have to conceal it or layer on the eye shadow. It’s not so bad, but I probably wouldn’t repurchase.

superdruglogo

There was a 3 for 2 sale across all cosmetics in Superdrug so I thought I’d try out these beauties.

Bourjois Blush in 34 Rose D’Or – approx €10

When I swatched this in store, I fell in love. It’s a gorgeous iridescent pink shade, similar to cult favourite Nars Orgasm. There’s a beautiful shimmer to it so there no need to apply any highlighter over it. There’s also a lovely fragrance from it although this might make it more irritating to those with sensitive skin.

Maybelline Colour Tattoo in On and On Bronze (Bad to the Bronze in US/Canada) – €6.50

Great shimmery, pigmented eye shadow, easy to blend and very long lasting. No downsides to this, it’s going to be another favourite this month.

L’Oreal Lumi Magique Primer – approx €12

I haven’t used this under my foundation yet but as a highlighter it works beautifully to create a natural looking glow. This might well be travelling with me in my holiday kit.

Batiste Dry Shampoo in Pretty and Opulent Oriental – approx €2

I love all my Batiste products and this is no different. Beautiful, summery fragrance and excellent for freshening up hair.

MUA Nail Varnish in Pistachio Ice Cream – €1.35

I haven’t got a chance to try this yet but I was drawn to this lovely pastel shade. A beautiful summer colour and for the price you can’t go too far wrong.

Wow, that was a long post. Well done if you have managed to read this far. I hope my mini-reviews were somewhat helpful! I will be featuring looks using some of the products later in the week. Stay tuned and be sure to check out my new Instagram account.

    • Glad I could help Mandisa, my all time favourite primer is actually Smashbox Photoready Primer. The e.l.f. Mineral Face Primer is a more budget friendly version but the Lumi Magique is definitely one I’ll be wearing for summer.
