Beauty and the Beach: 5 Spring Break Looks

beach look 6

Between the dieting, the shopping, the waxing and grooming we make every effort to look good for the holidays. The problem remains, the beach is not a makeup friendly environment. If like me, you fear being caught sans makeup in all your holiday snapshots, fear not. I have found 5 makeup options that are minimalist and beach appropriate.

My advice is the same for all these looks; work with what you have and be sure it won’t melt off you during the day.

(Please excuse the tacky titles, my creativity wanes dramatically after 1am)

The Bold Brow

This is the simplest and most dramatic look. If you want to keep your makeup effortless but still want to look striking in photographs this is the best option for you.

My recommended products for this look:

e.l.f. Studio Eyebrow Kit

Blush Crush

For that beautiful flushed look, a bright blush adds a subtle glow to your face. I would advise opting for a golden pink or coral which both work well with fair or darker skin.

My recommended products for this look:

NYX Powder Blush in Pinched (Dupe for Nars Orgasm)

e.l.f. Blush in Candid Coral

Baby Blues

This is one of my favourite beach looks. The blue and gold are very flattering for most eye colours and reflect the blue water and golden sand.

My recommended products for this look:

Mac Eyeshadow in Steamy

Urban Decay Naked Palette (Half Baked, Naked, Buck)

Maybelline Colossal Lashes (Waterproof)

Golden Goddess

Blake Lively, Beyoncé and Kim Kardashian are all veterans of this contoured, dewy look. Use a light hand to keep this look natural. You can also add white eyeliner and a dark crease colour to add dimension to the eyes.

Tip: Cream/liquid highlighters blend easily and have better staying power for this kind of look.

My recommended products for this look:

Benefit Highlighter Girl Meets Pearl

Mac Bronzer in Matte Bronze

NYX Jumbo eye pencil in Milk

Vivid Lippy

This is the boldest look of the five but you can play it down if you try with more muted shades. A tinted lip balm will add a nice pop of colour or you could go all out with an opaque lipstick. Invest in a shade that will best suit your skin tone.

My recommended products for this look:

Maybelline Baby Lips Tinted Lip Balm in Cherry Me

Barry M Lipstick in Coral

Mac Lipstick in Morange

Happy Spring Breaking.
